Night falls and the house is quiet.
There is nothing to see.
There is nothing to hear.
There is nothing to say.
Just the shivering of the city and the knotting of thoughts.
Out of the darkness, the unravelling, the unwinding,
the untwisting, and the straightening.
In the sharp light we reveal our intentions.
Denys Blacker was born in London and for the last 15 years has been
living and working in Spain. She has been making performances
internationally since 1984, alone and in collaboration with other
artists.
Her work involves the use of elaborate costumes that she makes and
wears in the performances which often take place in the almost total
darkness of dream time. Her recent work dissolves the separation between
performer and observer and is woven in between the members of the
audience, drawing them into her world and offering an opportunity
for a magical conversation without the need for words.
She is currently a member of The wolf and the winter performance group.
She spends part of the year in Thailand and recently completed
a commission for an AIDS hospice in Bangkok. In 2002 she co-founded
the Gresol Association cultural library and creative studies centre
in la Bisbal, Spain.
