Salon 27
Mark Wayman
‘micrOrcam’
October 18 @ 8pm

home presents the second in the 'Space, Action, Location' Salon series, micrOrcam by Mark Wayman.
By employing mnemonic memory techniques, Mark will ‘record’ the house and its contents in his head. The domestic fabric will then be ‘played back’ through verbal description and gesture. In the process, a structural alternative to the house’s present physical state will be revealed. Mark states his intention as being "to bring nothing to the space other than an articulation of what is there".
The pieces are technically simple, but structurally complex. The form of the articulation may warp the space. It may include historical and theoretical observations. It may assume a delicately delineated ‘shape’. The performance will not be viewable from a single, static location. Audience members should feel free to move around and examine the house in order to fully enjoy it. Those present may themselves be incorporated into the matrix of memories and projected onto different parts of the house.

Mark has made such memory pieces for a variety of locations including the back yard of the South London Gallery, a six storey stairwell at Toynbee Studios, the Nash room of the ICA and most recently, a hedge near Epping Forest.
