Home presented the third in the 'Intimate Journeys'
series, 'home comings' by Kira O'Reilly. The title 'home comings'
suggests pasts acts of departures, the action of leaving in order
to come home. Developed in response to the complex and emotive relationship
the artist has with her own mother's house and former home, the work
at home involved a series of 'drawings' made in different rooms in
the house through the print of the body. The majority of these 'drawings'
were made as a private performance around the house, with several
pieces being witnessed directly by the audience. The artist took the
audience around the house, to witness the installation of the drawings.
Alongside these actions was Kira's mother.
Kira's key performances have included 'Succour' commissioned by the
National Review of Live Art 2001, 'Wet Cup' at the Lux Cinema, London,
Kanonhallen, Copenhagen Denmark, and the Deptford X Festival, London.
'Unknowing' commissioned by Small Acts at the Millenium, and 'Bad
Humours/Affected' Cardiff Art and Time Festival and touring.
The home Salon provides the space for the informal presentation of
new, experimental and work-in-progress performance and live art in
the domestic context of home, an art space based inside a family house
in Camberwell, London.
