 Stelios Stylianou
 'Catalogue of Errors'
 March 23, 2001
Fresh from The National Review of Live Art 2001 in Glasgow, Stelios
presented a new piece specially constructed in the upstairs studio at
home. A huge tower built from small building blocks and to the limits
of his physicality occupied the centre of the room. The latticed
cylinder, painstakingly built in the space, and reminiscent of the toys,
games and endeavours of male play, was unceremoniously knocked
down whilst the audience watched. Stelios' work which includes
object making, installations, video and performance emphasize the
exhaustive impact of physical endeavour whilst mocking strategies of
social control which enforce it. Recent projects include : performative
installations for Kindle 1999 in Queens Wood, Highgate, and for the
Colliseum Group at The House of Detention in Clerkenwell, 1999.
Performances include : 'Conncubine' at The East End Collaborations
2000, Agglutimate of Pleasures at 291 Gallery 2000 and the Live
Art Review 2001 in Glasgow & 'Static Reconnaissance' at Farmiloe's
 Triangle 2000
