1 Helena Bryant 'Challenging Behaviour' March 31, 2000 Challenging behaviour saw the re-enactment of an entire boxing match. Helena appeared blind-folded and triumphant in silky robe and red boxing gloves on her own in the boxing ring which had been set up in the large studio room on the top floor of the house. Attacking a variety of paint filled balloons which hung over the ring, Helena burst them and splattered the audience with paint. Audience participation followed as a succession of people entered the ring with her as inpromtu sparring partners. A performance of humour, excess and danger. Helena Bryant is a recent graduate from The Kent Institute of Art and Design, where she studied painting. Her performance work has included ; 'Slug Woman makes a Painting' for home 2, 'Fifteen Minute Painting Melodrama with red Goo', Whitstable, Kent, 'The Applications and Implications of Sauce - A ten minute Restaurant Painting', The Bull and Last, Kentish Town, 1999 and 'Shout - Voices from the Edge' 2000 Box Clever Theatre Company, working with young people in Cambridgeshire. |
