Home live art at the Latitude Festival

Home brought ‘Me if You Lose’ by The Society of Wonders to the Latitude Festival.
‘Me If You Lose’: The Society of Wonders laid on some coffee-morning games laced with dubious spirits. ‘Dress-Me’, ‘Hook-The-Duck’, ‘Test-Your-Weakness’, ‘Stare-At-Margaret’ and other half-remembered activities. www.thesocietyof wonders.co.uk
Home co-director Mimi Banks also worked as a part of the team at Lavish, at this year's Festival, designing and project managing the build of the stunning sets in & around the six main arena tents at the Festival.
Lavish is an Independent creative production company who has worked with Festival Republic since Latitude's conception to create & build on the iconic visual identity of event.

The Alternative Village Fete
At the National Theatre Watch this Space Festival

Featured: Barby Asante, Bob & Roberta Smith, The Bollywood Brass Band, The Fete Encounter, Friends of the Earth, I Knit London, Rediscovered Urban Rituals, Shane Waltener, Vauxhall City Farm, Wild Hunt Bedlam Morris, The Society of Wonders, Pudding Mill River, The Disabled Avant-Garde plus; food & produce stalls and much, much more....
The concrete and urban setting of the National Theatre square was transformed into an alternative village green as artists and performers interpreted and played with the form of the traditional village fete, with a series of interactive arts and crafts, games, produce, food & environmental stalls, live music, dance and informal walkabout performances.

Pub Crawl
Camberwell Arts Festival
Saturday 14th June, 2008, 7pm – 2am

Pub Crawl took you on a tour of some of Camberwell’s best-loved pubs to experience specially commissioned performances and installations which articulated the great British social space of The Pub and the traditions of Pub Entertainment. From A Pub Quiz turned into playful social commentary by artist Yara El-Sherbini to a storming performance from South London’s own Ukulele Club of Dulwich. And including a mysterious installation by Lottie Leedham recreated the secret societies & clubs of the past, the night ended up at the infamous Duckie Club in Vauxhall featuring a special Camberwell Cabaret night of pub singers, cocktails and free Bar BQ.

Plum Flower in the Snow by Greta Mendez at home

Performers: Nina Baden-Semper, Jacqui Chan and Inder Salim
Live artist and raconteur Greta Mendez fused her Trinidadian roots with Asian cultures. Plum Flower In The Snow was an artist residency and performance installation at HOME as part of China Now which traced her recent travels in China and India. Through image and recital, Greta deconstructed moments, rituals and encounters that left their mark.

Harvest
it!…a festival of autumn delights

Contemporary art met ancient rural traditions to transform and revitalise
an under-used park in South London. Multi-sensory performances and
interventions by leading artists and hundreds of local people celebrated
the bounty of nature in the heart of the city.
Artistic Director: Ali Zaidi.
Commissioned Artists: Barby Asante, Fergus Drennan,
Eleanor Margolies, Jan Hendrickse, Myriam Ojeda Patiño with
ArtLAT, Shane Waltener.
Co-produced by home and motiroti, Harvest it! transformed Myatt’s Fields Park
into a bountiful village of delights where multiple cultures are
woven together to reveal new expressions. A major participatory
programme, involving artists working with city farms, allotment
organisations, schools, choirs and other local groups, explored
the theme of ‘harvest’, which is shared across cultures
and generations.

The Art of Protest included some of the UK’s
most politically active artists who came together to present a series
of exhibitions, participatory live events, workshops, debates and
broadcasts based around the history and forms of May Day, relating
them to contemporary forms of artistic and cultural protest.
The project culminated in a spectacular May Day Festival and Procession,
featuring FREE artist-led workshops, activities and live entertainment,
followed by a mass procession around Battersea Park, and ending
with the ritual burning of a giant Jack in the Green sculpture.
Funded by: Pump House Gallery, Wandsworth B. C.,
Arts Council, Sir Walter St. John's educational charity, The National
Lottery, Platform and Joule.

On June 7th 2005 a large group gathered at IKEA Edmonton for family
photographs. The group was a fake group who were, mostly, not related
to each other. They had come to IKEA for ASSEMBLE, the 8th Annual

On November 18th the ASSEMBLE photographs were displayed at home in
south London. They were nicely framed and hung throughout the house.
A home movie was shot around the dining room table at 8pm and projected
in the sitting room.

St. Margaret's
Church Ale Performance Festival July
22 - 24, 2005
Based on the tradition of the Church Ale and set in the inspiring
historical environment of a medieval church in Suffolk, this unique
event was the first ever residential performance festival at home
Suffolk, and resurrected the ancient practice of the Ale; celebrating
the feast day of St Margaret (20 July) the Patron Saint of the church,
with a weekend of contemporary performance, dance, film & video,
communal meals and family workshops.

Art & Money

Friday 26th August 05.
A fun packed and provocative night of artists interactive performances
and games, talks and tours, film screenings and music, investigating
the relationship between Art and Money.
V&A Currency; Audience members paid £1
to enter each of the artist led games, competitions and activities
occurring throughout the museum spaces. Their participation was rewarded
with a V&A lottery ticket for each £1 spent. V&A lottery
tickets were also hidden throughout the accessible museum spaces.
Treasure hunt clues/maps hinting at locations were freely available.

Looking Good

Looking Good was a new work by the Artist
Giovanna Maria Casetta, specially commissioned by home London and
Kettle’s Yard Cambridge. Filmed on location in the house at
Kettles Yard, the work explores the issues surrounding the condition
of depression, through the medium of 8mm film and performance. It
looks at the taboos which still exist surrounding the condition and
through the artists’ own experience, explores the way in which
this suffering is often kept hidden or met with a refusal to be acknowledged.
